(One-Fit – ImplantCast) using 3D artificial model of the bones of the knee joint and patient-specific instrumentation and implants, taking into account anatomical variations and defects, offers operative accuracy and safety of total knee arthroplasty.
This 52-year-old man (A.I.) – in the Video – suffered from severe post-traumatic osteoarthritis on both knees was recently operated in our Clinic in Iatriko Psychikou / Athens Medical Group using this amazing technique and came back very soon and more active in his favorite sport of winder skiing.
The method offers excellent correction of the deformities and of the mechanical axis of each limb, as also excellent placement of the implants without injuring – as is done in classic techniques – the intramedullary canal of femur and tibia or without the need to install complex and time-consuming systems during the operation.
The posterior cruciate ligament was preserved for better stability and proprioception as was done with the popliteus tendon, the bone of the femur that is removed in PS implants, the vastus medialis muscle etc.
